With AAP reluctant to take the bait despite Congress offer of unconditional support and no one caring to check with BJP, Delhi Lt Governor Najeeb Jung has recommended that re-elections confined only to the eight constituencies where the Congress won and avoid burdening the exchequer with a full-fledged re-poll.
“I mean who in their right minds will want to vote for the Congress again, man?” wondered Governor Jung. “Look how useless and inconvenient those eight seats are. Even though they are acting all sweet and coy by offering unconditional support to AAP, Kejri realizes its plain suicide to do business with them. So best course is to have BJP and AAP fight it out for those eight seats only.”
Governor Jung however said it would be undemocratic to ban Congress outright in the repolls. “After all, the entire high command of the party resides in Delhi and it’s but natural for them to vote for themselves. But I’m sure on one else will vote for them unless they bracket Congress with NOTA and want to register their protest against the entire electoral process,” observed Jung.
In related news, Kejriwal assured his core base of fanatical AAPtards that AAP may not form the government even if it gets a simple majority. “We all know that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. So there is no question of AAP forming government even if it gets majority. However, I appeal to the electorate to protest against the establishment for voting for AAP,” he rallied at a ward sabha amidst a sea of AAP topis and jhaadus.
However, there is no denying that Kejriwal has now gatecrashed into the establishment. In what is seen as the ultimate testimony of his having arrived, champion networker Rajiv Shukla was seen sucking up to the Magsasay award winner. To be spotted with Shukla is now considered an honour in itself, on par with being declared Indian of the Year or making the cover of Time. To belong to Rajiv Shukla’s contact list means being one degree of separation away from all the powerful celebrities of the country. It carries a certain cachet, a ringing endorsement of the fact that Kejriwal is now an apex mover and shaker.
Kejriwal conceded that Shukla did suck up to him and asked for his private number but assured his supporters that he has not let that go to his head. He assured his supporters that he always was and will remain an aam aadmi.
