Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today requested Google to do a Kejri-turn on their decision of shutting down its first social networking site, Orkut. ”AAP always bats for the aam aadmi, whether it comes to humans or social networks, and Orkut was as aam aadmi as they come. Why is Google now cutting support for this aam social network? If so, with a sad heart, I will have to dub them also as Ambani agents,” said the civil society activist turned politician.
When The Unreal Times reporter had the temerity to point out that AAP itself had ignored the so called poor man’s social network, preferring to promote itself on Twitter and Facebook, Arvind turned apoplectic. “That’s not true,” he bellowed. “We campaigned on all social networks including even Google plus. On Orkut, Manish and I personally organized virtual mohalla sabhas. In fact, we were so popular on Orkut that Yogendra Yadavji wanted us to contest elections in Brazil as well.”
Kejriwal also lambasted the Modi government for keeping silent on Orkut’s imminent demise. ”Imagine the case, had Orkut been started by Ambani! Orkut would’ve become the official social network of India! Sab mile hue hain ji!” Kejriwal told The UnReal Times, before accusing us also of making too many jokes on Orkut and thus proving ourselves to be Ambani agents.
The Magsaysay award winner added that if Google does not revoke its decision soon, the Aam Aadmi Party would go on a dharna outside the residences of Larry Page and Sergey Brin. ”We have asked all Orkut users from Brazil and India to give us a missed call and register for this dharna outside Google’s headquarters. The AAP California chapter is taking care of the logistics in this regard,” he concluded on an ominous note.
