Rahul Gandhi could go down in the annals of British history as the man who prevented the breakup of Britain. The Nehru-Gandhi scion has been enlisted by unionists, led by British PM David Cameron, to campaign vigorously on behalf of an independent Scotland in the final hours of polling in a desperate bid to preserve the union.

Rahul was holidaying in Barcelona when both David Cameron and Scottish National Party leader Alex Salmond landed up at his penthouse, each seeking his help on behalf of the other side. Fortunately for Cameron and the unionists, Rahul decided to side with Scottish nationalists, despite the passionate entreaties of Alex Salmond not to.

“We sent the English back with love from India in 1947. We will send them away from Scotland with love as well,” were the Nehru-Gandhi scion’s first campaign lines after rolling up his sleeves. Alex Salmond’s complexion turned pallid, knowing that the “No” camp’s cause was now doomed. Rahul is now all set to make unannounced visits to Scottish homes to have ham-bacon (their dal-chawal) and urge the Scots to empower themselves by pressing the “Yes” button. Bookmakers and financial markets now expect the unionist No camp to comfortably win.

The Queen and Prince Phillip have profusely thanked Rahul for his efforts in preserving the Union by opposing it. “He’s a chip of the old block after all. Dickie uncle and Edwina used to think very highly of his great-grandfather Jawahar who also, I believe, aided the partition of India by opposing it,” the Queen told The UnReal Times.
