The Indian Institute of Planning and Management has filed a lawsuit in the Silchar Civil Court claiming damages to the tune of Rs 500 crore against the Delhi High Court, citing “grave harassment and injury”. The Delhi High Court had passed a judgment ordering IIPM to stop pretending to be a B-school or anything even remotely close to one.

In addition to charging the Delhi High Court, IIPM’s suit has also warned Google, Facebook, The UnReal Times and other publishers against “publishing, distributing, giving coverage or circulating the highly defamatory, libelous and slanderous judgment.”

Coming out with all guns blazing, a combative Dr Arindam Chaudhuri told The UnReal Times that he will not let anyone, whether it is Google or the University Grants Commission or some petty High Court, get away by passing insulting remarks against his baby, IIPM. “We have already got the Silchar Civil Court to grant IIPM a preliminary injunction, enjoining the Delhi High Court to remove the judgment in question from their website,” Dr Chaudhuri said. “After the Silchar Civil Court has dealt with Larry Page, Rashmi Bansal, Mahesh Peri and 489 other entities, ranging from individual bloggers to internet giants, it will deal with the Delhi High Court,” he added, sounding an ominous warning. IIPM will also launch a new media blitz with the tagline “Dare to think beyond the Delhi High Court” to counter adverse publicity from the judgment.

The Delhi High Court judgment has also come in for criticism from Facebook and Google. The internet giants said they prefer to stay on the right side of the IIPM founder and now have their task cut out in filtering the wave of IIPM jokes that are expected to flood cyberspace.
