Stung by PM Modi once again raking up Robert Vadra’s shady land deals during election campaigning, a highly incensed Congress leadership has threatened to withdraw Rahul baba from the election campaign trail if Modi does not mend his ways. “If BJP thinks they have a trump card in cracking jokes about our first son-in-low, then we have a bigger trump card by withdrawing Rahul all-together from the scene. We all know how Rahul baba’s absence can be a gamechanger. We warn the BJP: DON’T PUSH US,” said Congress spokesperson, Rashid Alvi, alluding to how Rahul’s absence from campaigning for the recent by-polls helped the grand old party put up a decent show.
The Congress threat seems to have had its desired effect. BJP President Amit Shah has profusely apologized to 10, Janpath and reiterated the BJP’s ardent desire to see Rahul back on the pitch. “In hindsight, we shouldn’t have pushed the Congress so much that they resort to desperate measures that could actually get them back to power. One more Vadra joke and they could actually threaten to replace Rahul baba and Sonia ji at the helm. Now that would be truly catastrophic for us,” Shah said, wiping a bead of sweat from his brow.
In addition to Rahul, Amit Shah is also nursing hopes of Dr Shashi Tharoor hitting the campaign trail. “We know we are pushing our luck but if Congress can also deploy Dr Tharoor to criticize the performance of the Modi government, that would be the icing on the cake,” Shah mused.
