Hockey India is determined to not let the Pakistani hockey players off the hook with mere suspensions and official reprimands. In addition to calling off bilateral and trilateral engagements with Pakistan, Hockey India president Narinder Batra has demanded that the two suspended players, Muhammad Tousiq and Amjad Ali, along with coach, Shehnaz Sheikh, appear on Arnab’s NewsHour and subject themselves to interrogation on behalf of an outraged nation. “Nothing less than a dressing down by Arnab watched by millions of outraged Indian hockey and cricket fans will satisfy us,” the Hockey India president fulminated.
Arnab of course is rearing to have a go, after a weekend recharging break. “I have had over 24 hours to build myself up into a fine fury to ask the questions that need to be asked. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, rest assured, I will do what the nation expects of me,” was the Times Now anchor’s warning shot.
Pakistani authorities are in hectic parleys with FIH to avoid their players from coming on Arnab’s NewsHour. “These are kids from small towns whose English is not up to scratch either. To get them Arnabed would scar their psyches forever,” said Pakistan Hockey president, Akhtar Rasool. Negotiations are on to send their cardboard cutouts instead,
Arnab is anyway moving ahead with preparations for Monday’s NewHours with two chairs reserved for the Pakistani hockey players. Zafar Hilaly, a retired jihadi and a one eyed Pakistani admiral will do battle from the men in green’s side. From our side, Mahroof Raza will fire the opening salvo, reading out provisions of the international code of conduct on sporting matters that Pakistan violated, before leaving the field open for Arnab to do his thing.
Sanjay Jha will appear for a change with his mouth plastered. This time, Arnab doesn’t want jokers like Sanjay Jha to distract him from his agenda. It will be a solo act, and it will be gory.
