Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to the vast AAP volunteer base to henceforth donate more of their money, not time. The appeal comes in the wake of donations to the anti-corruption party dwindling in the last few months, leaving very little funds to fuel party work.
“Doston, going forward we will need more of your money, not time in our battle against corruption. So I appeal to all of you to now cut down on voluntary activity in handling, staging dharnas. Instead simply donate cash. That is far more efficient. We can then tap into professional expertise for our marketing and event management work. Yes, this means you will have to go back to your boring, corporate jobs with the Ambanis and Adanis but sometimes one has to join the enemy to beat the enemy. The bottom line is I now have a proper job, so should all of you,” Kejriwal stated.
Manish Sisodiya however said going back to boring corporate jobs didn’t mean letting go of their anger. “Drop in voluntarism doesn’t mean drop in levels of self-righteousness and dissatisfaction with the system,” he cautioned. “Don’t let the stultifying corporate environment get to you. If you want to let off steam, log onto Twitter and help trend the latest AAP sponsored tag. There should be no letup in your cyber activism. That and frequent online donations. Leave the rest to Arvind,” the AAP number two trailed off.
