After Ghulam Ali, Sudheendra Kulkarni, Aleem Dhar, and many others, it is the turn of the Bollywood screen couple, our own Sonam Kapoor and Pakistani actor Fawad Khan, to face the wrath of the Shiv Sena.
Sena supremo Uddhav Thackeray has lashed out at Sonam for choosing to pair up with a Pakistani actor when alternate domestic options are available for indulging in on-screen romance. In his scathing comments in the Sena mouthpiece, Saamna, Uddhav observed:
“For quite some time, we have been quietly observing how Sonam and Fawad have been holding hands and striking cute poses for the covers of Vogue, Maxim and other such glossies. This when our brave soldiers are battling bullets on the borders!!!
“Now don’t get me wrong,” the editorial continued, “I’m not saying Sonam should act with Riteish Deshmukh or something as preposterous. Even we are not that lunatic. All I’m saying is aren’t there enough Khans on this side of the border such as Salman bhai or Saif bhai that Sonam has to opt for a Pakistani Khan?”
“All right, so they aren’t as hairy as this Fawad fellow. Then what about our very own Mumbai lion, Emraan Hashmi. He is more hirsute than even the legendary Anil Kapoor and what’s more, he’s number 1 in the kissing department. I rest my case.”
Uddhav concluded his scathing editorial on an ominous note: “For now, I am using ink to put my thoughts to paper. But I know how to use ink in other ways as well.”
