Superstar (soon to be former), Rajinikanth, passed on the baton of awesomeness to Sir Ravindra Jadeja in a simple but kitschy ceremony in the presence of an ocean of raving Sir Jadeja fans in the Chidambaram stadium in Chennai. This ceremony marks the beginnings of the reign of Sir, His exalted Highness, gigastar etc etc Sir Sri Ravindra Jadeja and the end of the Rajini era.
Rajinikanth said he saw the writing on the wall, Facebook Wall i.e., in the wake of the social media getting flooded with Chuck Norris Rajinikanth facts recycled as Sir Jadeja facts. “That’s when I began feeling like a ‘has been’ and decided to make way for Sir,” said the fading superstar.
Confirmation came after, Mrs. Rajni, who, hitherto, was so much in awe of Rajini that she would even let him have the last word in arguments (which made it easily the most incredible of all the astounding Rajinikanth facts), now nags and makes him feel like just another balding, over the hill, hen-pecked husband.
Indeed, Rajini’s precipitous plunge from superstardom to obscurity has been poignant. “With the rise of Sir Jadeja, no one cares a f*** for me, man,” he observed wistfully. “The other day when I jumped the queue to get into a public transport bus, a guy barked at me brusquely ‘who do you think you are? Sir Jajdeja aa? Po da’. I was cool with the sarcasm but at least he could have respected me for being a senior citizen, no?” said Rajini with a lump in his throat.
The upside of being a forgotten superstar is that Rajini can move around freely like any other average Joe on the streets of Chennai without anyone noticing, let along recognizing, him. “This gives me a lot of free time, some of which I use to compose my own Sir Jadeja facts which I tweet using the handle @justanotherbum,” disclosed Rajini.
Sir Jadeja, while gratefully accepting the mantle, said he has a long way to go before he measures up to Rajini’s former glory. “When I last checked, I have replaced Rajini sir in only 10% of extant Rajinikanth jokes on the net,” he told his adoring fans in a display of false modesty.
