Number 1: IITian accepts Infosys’ 6 crore job offer, Infy in utter shock
In this tongue in cheek take on the craze for ‘packages’, IT services firm Infosys tries to pull a marketing gimmick by making an offer of 6 crores to an IITian, fully confident that he’ll reject it. But he actually accepts it, causing a serious problem to the IT major.
Now, the company is in utter shock. For one, it has blown its entire recruitment budget for the year on acquiring just one student. While he is undoubtedly talented and smart, can he do the equivalent of 100 freshers from other colleges? The Hiring and Talent Acquisition team has been summoned to explain the management and the Board the logic behind this move.
“We never thought they’d accept it and hence offered such a huge remuneration”, said a shocked Ranjan Kumar, University Talent Acquisition Specialist at Infosys who devised the strategy of offering insanely huge offers to IIT students (who would anyway reject it) to boost up the company’s image and profile among students from top Indian institutions.
